My name is Cody Daigle. I’m a playwright.
I do the playwriting thing from Cajun country. I was born here. I still live just a few miles from the house I grew up in. I visit my folks every Sunday. I really appreciate a good gumbo.
I live here in Cajun country with my boyfriend, Marc. Even though I was raised a good southern gentleman, I ended up wanting a southern gentleman of my own. He’s from New Orleans, but I found him in New York. It’s a great story. Ask me about it — I love telling it.
Last year, I went into hand-to-hand combat with kidney cancer. At 35. Thankfully, I won this first round. Who knows if we’ll tangle again, but it’s a fight that changed my life. And it’s the main reason I have put playwriting first, after 15 years of doing quite the opposite.
I’m an unconventional backstory in search of a conventionally happy ending — a life writing plays and having audiences see them.
