About Laurie

As a criminologist, columnist and author in Africa, I am exposed on a daily basis to the most vulnerable and the most dangerous people on earth.

Working with Anti-Poaching I am exposed to the most heinous crimes involving animal cruelty. Conversely I work with phenomenal people who put their lives into the protection and rehabilitation of these very same animals.

I have used this experience to write two books. They focused on two crimes that I found really distressing. I lecture at universities and am an established public speaker.

I have worked with and been interviewed by most of the major news outlets around the world including CNN, Sky News, BBC, RPL, SABC, ENews and the like.

In 2014 I wrote a column known as crime line for the Sunday Standard Newspaper.

I am currently looking for projects in Africa and Europe on which I can consult as an profiler or a crime series which I could host. I am also looking to collaborate with a screen writer on turning my book, Shattered Lives, the Story of Advocate Barbie into a script. This was a very interesting case with many twists and turns.

Do feel free to connect I look forward to chatting!

Unique traits: I work in a field which requires dedication, tough mindedness and tenacity as well as a strong stomach and a strong imagination. I love to have fun with what I do!
