FOR MY FRIEND
By Michael Merrill

GENRE: Family
LOGLINE: LOG LINE: True friendship doesn’t lie in color, religion or health as it takes the bond of two 10-year-old boys to show us that real friends stay to the end.

SYNOPSIS:

SYNOPSIS: With Peter Stevens’ first sight of Jerome Johnson he knew that the two had something in common. Jerome, a young African American and a new sixth grader at an all white school, wasn’t greeted with open arms from other students, not only because of his race but because he was H.I.V. positive. But when met by Peter, a white student, Peter held no prejudice towards Jerome and they quickly became the best of friends. Playing basketball and going to parties, the two become inseparable. All was good until Peter’s friends turned on him when he invited Jerome to a party. Peter’s other friends Bobby and Kyle made Jerome’s disease known to all. Peter’s Mom finds out about Jerome’s disease, and that leads Sara Stevens (Peter’s mom) to treat Jerome and his mother (Vanessa) with a very sour attitude. Sara believes that Peter is unsafe playing with Jerome. Vanessa explains Sara’s ignorance to Jerome along with the deadly disease that they both inherited from Jerome’s father. But as the boys’ friendship evolves, the two families suddenly learn that Peter carries a much deadlier illness than Jerome. This terrorizes both families as Jerome turns and gives Peter the same support and love that Peter has given him. It brings the two families closer together in love and understanding.
