About L

L. Gustavo Cooper was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a military brat, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1989. Cooper started a successful skateboarding career in 1998, which was his initial introduction to the world of film. Cooper began making skate videos to extend his sponsorships and promote himself in the competitive East Coast skating culture. His natural talent was recognized by 411 Magazine leading to the production of Chronicles of Gnarnia, an episodic film series showcasing upcoming skaters. In 2009, Cooper entered the Art Institute (AI) of Jacksonville to study filmmaking at a professional level, leading to a relentless creative output which includes commercials, music videos, short films, and feature films. While at AI, Cooper directed The Fenimore, a short film that garnered multiple 2011 Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project awards, including best film and best director. Cooper's talented direction has led to regional recognition, various awards and accolades in the Southeast. In 2013, the Jacksonville Television and Film Office awarded him the Rising Star Award. Cooper's recent short films include Velvet Road, M is for Music, June and Waiting for Lola. They are being presented at major film festivals worldwide. The Devil Incarnate (formerly titled Copiii: The 1st Entry) was released nationally on DVD October 2014. Cooper's feature film June, based on the short of the same title, is due to be released soon. The film stars Kennedy Brice ("The Walking Dead"), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and Victoria Pratt ("Mutant X").
