A twenty-something working class woman in a small town navigates the challenges of work, friends, and family in the wake of her mother’s untimely death.
This dramedy TV pilot provides a grounded take on life in the ‘fly-over states.’ DIANE works as a cashier in a chain grocery store and is struggling to keep her life together in the year following her mother’s untimely passing. In the pilot episode we see her become embroiled in a workplace drama involving a promotion to management among the grocery staff. She also finds herself involved in her best friend’s illicit affair with one of her co-workers, who is bad news. Her extended family members push her to host a social event in her mother’s honor, despite her pleas that she be able to handle the tragedy in her own way.
