When a disgraced former boxer is lured back into the ring by an unscrupulous promoter, he finds that, instead of a shot at redemption, it’s a battle his life.

SYNOPSIS:

Deshawn Johnson’s finally overcome a tumultuous past that included drug abuse, the shooting death of his beloved sister, multiple arrests, a stint in the Marines, and a spectacular, but short-lived, boxing career. Now in his mid 30’s, Deshawn’s found peace, and his place in the world. He’s rekindled a romance with his childhood sweetheart, Berlinda, works with at risk kids, is close with his widowed mother Lorraine, and is finally happy. With his life and who he’s become. His beloved Uncle EJ’s not been as fortunate. Deshawn’s partying buddy from his glory days, while Deshawn cleaned up his act, EJ’s life spiraled out of control, until he lost everything. But EJ’s back. Clean, happy, and with a new project. When EJ’s investor turns out to be a crooked businessman and mob connected fight promoter, EJ finds himself hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. In order to save EJ, Deshawn’s forced into a one-time deal with the devil. An exhibition match with top-ranked MMA fight Shane Ryan. Unfortunately, Deshawn didn’t read the contract, and, when he unexpectedly wins the match, he discovers not only is there no prize money as promised, but he’s now heavily indebted to Terrell. When Deshawn goes to a lawyer about getting out of the contract, both Lorraine and Berlinda are threatened. Out of options, Deshawn agrees to fight five more matches for Terrell, culminating in a huge, televised charity match, where Deshawn will take a dive in the final round. Days before the match, Terrell has Berlinda kidnapped, to ensure Deshawn upholds his end of the bargain. But will Terrell? Deshawn knows the answer. He also knows that neither he, Berlinda, Lorraine, nor EJ will ever be safe again. Not unless he can do what a host of men before him have died trying; stop Terrell Booker once and for all.
