About Denise

Recently Denise completed her M.F.A in Acting at York University where she played Mistress Merrythought in The Knight of the Burning Pestle, Starveling/Moonshine in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, directed by Ker Wells. Denise also holds a B.F.A in Music Theatre from the University of Windsor. She has been seen in film festivals throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe in the award winning film Falling For Caroline in which she plays the title character. In June 2010 Falling For Caroline was released by Peccadillo Pictures in the UK as part of the dvd compilation of films Here Come the Girls 2: Gleeful Desire, staring Jane Lynch.

Other previous credits include The Threepenny Opera (Soulpepper), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Festival of Classics), Steel Magnolias (Port Stanley Festival Theatre), South Pacific (Sunshine Festival Theatre) as well as appearing on the CTV series Dan For Mayor. During the summer of 2010 Denise performed in two shows at the Fringe Festival of Toronto: The Getaway, a site-specific show in a moving van, which she also co-produced, and A Freudian Slip of the Jung, which went on to play at the Berkeley Street Theatre and the Toronto Centre for the Arts in the Best of the Fringe Festivals. Denise produced and performed her solo show, This One, in the 2014 Hamilton Fringe Festival and is currently developing and expanding the piece and will stage it in Toronto in October 2014 with Melee Hutton directing.

Denise has been selected to perform her short comedic solo piece called Someday July 26 and 27, 2014 as part of the LabCab Festival: Parkdale. She grew up on a farm in South Western Ontario and lives in Toronto. She acts, writes, singes, teaches, practices yoga, runs, bakes, and studies West African Dance.
