About Katie

Writer
Katie's feature film PYRO has been awarded development funding via Creative England and Film London 2016.

Her short film AUGUSTINA was funded by Film London’s London Calling scheme 2014 in association with the BFI Network and Creative Skillset. AUGUSTINA received an industry screening at the BFI and screened at the London Short Film Festival and Short Waves Festival whilst also making the 68th BAFTA longlist for best short 2015. Katie was part of the BAFTA International New Talent Network 2015/16 with co-written TV drama series LASTLIGHT (previously titled ‘After Life’), which was industry nominated for the BAFTA Rocliffe TV Drama Forum List.

Most recently, Katie has been selected as a BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew participant 2018.

Katie has a particular interest in telling original stories through characters whose voices in the real world often go unheard – approaching stories as emotional puzzles, treading the line between light and dark. Her development slate includes features PYRO and ASTRONAUT, TV series FEMINISTA and DARKNET and her first theatre play DRONE.

Consultancy
Katie started a career in television production on dramas ‘Relic Hunter’ and ‘Born and Bred’ (BBC) before working for Talkback Thames and in research, storylining and script editing roles on nationally broadcast shows ‘The Bill’ (ITV) and ‘Family Affairs’ (CH5). She has worked in further script consultancy roles with BAFTA Rocliffe, BBC Drama Series, BBC Continuing Drama, BBC Writer’s Academy, Film4, ITV and Film London - London Calling / Microwave schemes. She has been a freelance script consultant working directly with both new talent and established writer / director clients across television and film.

Katie has been a consultant for The Wellcome Trust Screenwriting Fellowship 2012 through to 2016 in partnership with the BFI & Film4. Most recently Katie has worked with Out of Orbit on NI Screen funded feature ‘The Dig’ 2018.

With a degree from Exeter University in English Literature and Fine Art (Specialising in Film Studies) and gaining a National Diploma Distinction in Fine Art, Katie draws and paints as a hobby. Aged 10 Katie won her most prized possession, a SNES, on children's TV show 'Run the Risk'. Her pockets are full of retractable pencils and dog biscuits.
