About Alain

Producer, director, editor, screenwriter & video jockey, I worked on several films including the multiple award winning “Delirantissimo” and "Methane Momma" that opened the Philip K. Dick Film Festival 2018 in NYC, featuring Melvin Van Peebles, the famous Actor, Director and American poet known for "Sweet Sweetback Baadasssss Song" & "Watermelon Man". In 2008, I directed "Sniper" wich was selected in Rotterdam IFFR, LA, Rio, London, CannesIFF ... I also direct the documentary "Net for President" telling how the Internet has contributed to the first election of Barack Obama (it is one of the first documentary made only from web footage).

I edited the short film "Tango de Olvido" directed by Alexis Mital Toledo (official selection in Cannes in 2002) and the same year I co-produced with him and edit an experimental feature film "Racontez-nous, Anna!"

I worked on many fictions first as frame restorer for the "Digital Cinema Department" of the Eclair Laboratory, working especially on "La Grande Vadrouille" ("Don't Look Now ... We're Being Shot At!") by Gerard Oury and "Les Choses de la Vie" by Claude Sautet. Then I worked as assistant on the animated movie "Kaena: The Prophecy" and as chief editor on commercials, video clips and film editor on TV dramas. I notably did the edition of the feature "10 minutes in America" by Gad Elmaleh a famous French Director, Actor and Stand Up Comedian featuring Sarah Silverman, Jerry Seinfeld, Woody Allen and the french comedian Jamel Debbouze.

In the US (between 2014 and 2023), I worked on several films including "The Road to Gotera" a feature documentary directed by Jacques Menashe telling the story of Olivier Rebbot a photojournalist killed in El Salvador in the 1980s and "Cathy at War" (released in 2023) also directed by Jacques Menashe telling the story of a French Women Photographer involved in the Vietnam war and “Olivier at Work” the second part of the triptical serie about photojournalism that started with “Cathy”.

Parallel to the cinema, I worked in Paris and Berlin on the scenography of the opera "The Fall of Fukuyama" directed by Daniel Harding performed in France and in the USA.

I also do VJing (real time visual performances), notably a VJay-live-cinema-space-opera concert wich was held in a “world premiere” at the Jazz A La Villette Festival featuring Melvin Van Peebles and Archie Shepp, the saxophonist best known for his passionately Afrocentric music of the late 1960s, which focused on highlighting the injustices faced by African Americans.
