Georgios T. Anamateros (alias Anamateur) is a comical performer and playwright, who tries to give rebirth to the tragicomic element of jazz.
Based in his native Athens (Greece), he is at head of “Anamateur & Pros”, small jazz bands in which he plays piano and sings, while accompanied by some of the town’s most distinguished jazz musicians (as guitarist Priamos Morakis, drummer Seraphim Bellos, bassists Manos Loutas and Periklis Trivolis). The formations’ name isn’t quite irrelevant with the fact that Anamateur works in “real” life as a civil engineer... The repertoire includes favorite standards by Fats Waller, Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, plus original songs by Anamateur, with titles such as “Lessons for aspiring nobili vigilanti”, “The Chagrin of an untamed heart”, “Credo d'une artiste avant-garde sans inspiration”.
The big dream of Anamateur is the completion of his jazz tetralogy, named “Anamateur conquering his most desired Peace”, in which jazz musicians are turned into actors as well, and its presentation in front of the appropriate audiences worldwide. The first drama of the tetralogy, named “One doubt arose in the mind of a noble vigilante”, has been experimentally presented until now in both Athens and Lisbon (Portugal) by Anamateur and his accomplices (Marta Hugon (voc), Mario Franco (cb), Thanos Daskalopoulos (tap)) , with considerable success. Anamateur actually writes the script and songs of the second drama, which will be entitled: “A certainty arose in the mind of the enlightened tyrant”!
