ROUGH DRAFT
By Robert A. Pokrywka

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

An unemployed writer takes a job at a men’s magazine as the author of a “what women like in men” article, writing from a woman's point of view. Only he has no idea what women really like, so he befriends a hotshot, chick-magnet photographer, who teaches him what women really want to help him write his article.

SYNOPSIS:

Some guys just have a way with women. Then there’s Andrew Moore. As an “out-of-work” writer, Andrew has polished many rough drafts, but the thing that seems to need the most polishing is Andrew himself. Whether it’s what he drives, what he drinks or even what he wears, Andrew Moore doesn’t scream ladies’ man. But when he finds himself writing an article about “what women like in men” he has to figure out the biggest mystery of life, next to why Skittles are so damn good. That being “What do women really want?” “Rough Draft” is a new half-hour sitcom that follows the adventures of Andrew Moore at Maximum Magazine as Andrew learns what it takes to be a “man’s man” and what he learns about life from his new friends. This is a series for young adults and up. Whether you’re the nice guy, the badass, the girl who uses sarcasm as your wall, or the family man, everyone will find someone to relate to in the series. And as the characters experience the ups and downs of life, the audience will come along for the ride. Each week, “Rough Draft” follows the exploits of Andrew Moore, Chris McClean and their coworkers at Maximum Magazine. While Andrew is the “nice guy,” Chris is the “badass” and the two help each other. Chris helps Andrew become tougher and teaches him about women. While, Andrew helps Chris get closer to the one girl that doesn’t fall for his charm – Jordan. Each episode ends with a sometimes funny and often touching article written by Andrew about what he learns about women, men, and life in general. The first season introduces us to everyone at Maximum Magazine and starts the most impressive “will they” or “won’t they” since Dave and Maddie, Angela and Tony, Ross and Rachel and Jim and Pam. Arcing over the entire first season is the relationship of Chris and Jordan. Starting out as a crush between the two, as the season moves through they both get closer. And through jealousy, some touching commentary and dry wit, we find out by season’s end what is destined for these two. Likewise, arcing over the whole season is the continuing toughening up of Andrew. Chris continuously tries to demonstrate some “badass” lessons, which continuously put Andrew in interesting and often hilarious situations. And when Stephanie Jones, an old college friend, shows up, Andrew tries to put some of those lessons to work. Only to find that ultimately being himself is good enough.
