Wikus Van Der Walt's Reel

This piece is based on a procedure which governs the entire piece.

This piece depicts my interest in Middle Eastern music through the rock medium. With an oriental melody and distorted guitars, it is a small journey into the vast musical landscape that the region has to offer.

This piece takes a singular melodic fragment to create most of the other material in the piece. Some new material is introduced which can be seen as paradoxical universal idea of stability and instability, knowing and unknowing. Even though the universe is immensely complex, seen from the right perspective it can have an effortless beauty.

My entry for SAE Sound Design Contest. No music may be added. Except for one short tiger growl, all the other monster sounds are created from two voices.
