In this fantasy adventure, two teens discover they are the lost royal heirs. Their bucolic lives shattered, the siblings find themselves saddled with the role of “saviors of the land”. To safeguard their lives, they have to start a second revolution, whether or not they want to.

SYNOPSIS:

ALEXA and DUNSTAN, elite warriors of the Endless Watch, accepted a bond of sorcery for the honor of guarding the kings and queens of the kingdom of Almindor. Their bond confers extreme longevity and amazing healing abilities, but it comes at a price; should they betray their rulers, they turn to stone. When love, greed and discontent led to a coup, Alexa and Dunstan escaped the uprising with the infant heirs. For fifteen years, the comrades-in-arms masqueraded as dutiful parents to fraternal twins JEFFREY and LEVA. Alexa and Dunstan raised the twins as peasant farmers, and also instilled in the children the skills and morals to be truly great Royals of Almindor. The Usurper (as he’s known) and his wife gave birth to a daughter, SELENE. They rule a decadent, Baretheon-esque court, subtly directed by the puppeteer-sorcerer NAOMI. Alexa and Dunstan’s long-lasting luck finally wisps away when a routine sweep for army conscripts descends on their idyllic (and utterly boring) agrarian life. They flee ahead of the Usurper’s enemy forces, but ill luck dogs the group. One of their pursuers is TRACE, the blackguard Endless Watch who betrayed and murdered the heirs’ father and slaughtered many of his fellow guardians. Now that Trace has unearthed Alexa and Dunstan, he relentlessly pursues his former comrades and the two teens who could topple Trace’s world. Trace’s pursuit forces Dunstan and Alexa to separate, each with one of the heirs. Dunstan falls afoul of Trace, and saves Leva’s life in true Endless Watch fashion. Leaving Leva to his minions, Trace’s heart pulls him like a lodestone after the love of his life, Alexa. Leva defies capture through her own formidable swordsmanship, only to discover Dunstan’s impaled body, which propels Leva on a mission to avenge the only father she's ever known. Leva’s quest to find Trace places her under the protection of two new guardians. The bard TALIESIN (who would rather sing about quests than be caught up in one), and the dour VELUN, Trace’s lieutenant and one of a handful of Endless Watch warriors who managed to escape the uprising. The two help her escape conscription into Selene’s army, but Leva’s stubborn pursuit of Trace forces Taliesin to kidnap the willful girl and take her to Mount Eskra – a safe haven, and the ancient training grounds of the Endless Watch. Life in the Usurper’s court has gone according to Naomi’s every plans. She holds the most powerful position in the realm, she controls the royal family, she even has acolyte-spies to help her maintain her position. But a formidable opponent ambushes Naomi’s puppeteering. On the day of her majority, the young princess Selene poisons the Usurper and the queen, sets up Naomi to take the blame for the murders, and quite neatly takes over the kingdom. Alexa defeats the detachment Trace sent after her, and neutralizes Trace’s advances with the pommel of her sword. Then she tackles the more challenging (and emotional) battle of convincing Jeffrey that he and Leva should take the throne as is their right – even if it’s against their own desires. Alexa and Jeffrey reach the rendezvous point, but Alexa’s own sister betrays and magically ensnares the guardian warrior. The ensuing manhunt traps Jeffrey in a walled city and for the first time in his life, the reluctant heir is completely on his own.
