THE MACGUFFIN CAPERS (ONE HOUR TV)
By Shelley Stuart

GENRE: Action, Adventure
LOGLINE:
Join the MacGuffin Group as they take the same rip-roarin' approach to helping their clients out of the impossible-jam-of-the-week as the classic hits of the 70s and 80s (Magnum PI, A-Team, Scarecrow and Mrs. King to name a few). The MacGuffin Capers will be just one thing: damned fun to watch.

SYNOPSIS:

Do you remember the glee with which you watched the A-Team blow stuff up? ("I love it when a plan comes together." ) The fun of watching Scarecrow and Mrs. King save the world? The guilty pleasure of ogling Thomas Magnum PI's Hawaiian escapades? Welcome to the MacGuffin Group, soldiers of fortune who take the same rip-roarin' approach to helping their clients out of the impossible-jam-of-the-week as the A-Team. Like those one-hour high octane gems of the 70s and 80s, The MacGuffin Capers will be just one thing: damned fun to watch for the whole family. The MacGuffin Group’s cover is a high end, very successful wedding planning business that caters to the “bridezilla” set. The creative executive is Marsha “Muffy” MacGuffin, former cheerleader, prom queen, and debutante who married the perfect guy, bought the perfect house, has the perfect career, not a single grey hair or wrinkle at 38; the diva that everyone loves to hate. Only it's pretty much impossible to hate Muffy. She has a reputation for handling even the most horrifying of brides-to-be. Those same skills serve her well to extract her real clients from life-threatening peril. She’s joined by Sarah & Susan Chin, identical twins so adept at impersonation that they can appear to be one person, a skill the CIA recognized as invaluable. They left the Company for reasons they have yet to reveal, but let's just say it wasn't about the money. Minnie, the computer diva, is a quiet mouse of a woman in person. Her online hacker persona, Erebus, is anything BUT mousy. Minnie usually takes a behind-the-curtains role in Muffy's capers, but once in a while she'll get out to take in the fresh air (and take out a stubborn system). She can handle herself well enough -- as long as "handling" involves mace and running shoes. Edwada (Ed), is a Hawaiian-born drool worthy, genius inventor surfer-dude. He has a knack for creating gadgets, and an inconveniently strong penchant for the waves. His naiveté with regard to the realities of How The World Works, makes him the honorary little brother to the group. The MacGuffin Group meet Ed in the pilot: a particularly challenging Bridezilla turns even more intractable when her genius surfer brother (Ed) is almost kidnapped right in front of Muffy. Muffy and Sarah (or is it Susan?) step in to rescue Ed. The trouble is, Ed wanted to get kidnapped so he could get back into his former employer's office and stop them from turning his latest invention into next generation military weapons. The team takes on Ed’s cause, saving his life and keeping some sweet chameleon fabric in the hands of the good guys. Oh, and Muffy manages to fulfill her Bridezilla’s dream of decorating the reception area with deadly (and out-of-season) purple nightshade. Each week the MacGuffin Group will juggle creating the perfect wedding for the perfect bride (aka Bridezilla of the week) and use their unique skill sets to help a client that’s found themselves in need of a little rescue. The clients won’t necessarily be connected to the betrothed couple and their cases are stand-alone jobs wrapped up in a fun filled episode. Though the company (and pilot) are based in Hawaii, the MacGuffin Group goes where they’re needed handling twenty-two cases a season. (Note: I've uploaded the teaser only. Please contact me or my manager for the full script.)
