WINALDO ARTARAYA SWASTIA graduated from Jakarta Institute of Art, majoring in film directing. He received full scholarship for 6 semesters from the school and achieved Cum Laude in 2010. He directed 14 short films in total, 6 of which using 16mm celluloid film and the other 10 using video/digital, including ANGIN (AN ESSENCE OF WIND), his short film that tells a story of a bhikkhu and the first Indonesian fiction film based on Buddhism, which also gained nomination for Best Short Film in 2010 Indonesia Film Festival (FFI) and was screened on film festivals both inside and outside the country, namely Singapore and India. He also directs video clips and short projects.
He is currently developing his first feature film as a director. The film is based on his short story, “H+-.” which will be published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama, through his Buddhist name, RAKKHITA SUTARO.
