SYNOPSIS:

Looking for Heaven? — Here on Earth? — I don’t think so, you won’t find it here. But Jim Conner thinks he knows where it is and NASA suddenly thrusts him on a historical journey that will dramatically change the lives of each and every astronaut aboard the Deep Space Shuttle; S.E.A.R.C.H. One hot August night in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Jim Conner was on his back patio observing the Stars with his telescope and a 24-foot Satellite dish. All of which are hooked into his computer’s database. Suddenly strange looking signals dance across his screen forming chains of unorthodox scripture that resembles a code. These weird symbols puzzled Jim so he stays up all night trying to decode them. Astoundingly, the program he had developed breaks the code and he is amazed of what the message has said. With this in mind, and what his wife had told him before she died 10 years ago, he is led to believe that life does exist somewhere, after death. Jim relentlessly searches through a NASA database of all known star systems and finds a single planet capable of sustaining life. More amazing than that was—It is in the exact direction the signals were coming from. The very next morning, two men from NASA came to Jim's home. They identified themselves as Colonel Hayes and Lieutenant Monroe and forced Jim to go with them Texas for questioning. Along the way the three of them get tangled up in a high speed car chase and a fire fight that leaves the Lieutenant and their two Russian (KGB) attackers dead. In Houston, Jim is debriefed of the situation at hand and because they had also received these same signals for many years prior, they asked him to help navigate a special crew to investigate. Jim agrees and undergoes a crash course training program until he was ready for liftoff. After docking at the International Space Station (Emc²), he meets a unique crew made up of select American, British, Chinese and Russian astronauts. Two days later, they boarded a very, very large spacecraft that resembles our smaller space shuttles. It has the latest design in Propulsion Technology: The ION PULSE GENERATOR. This beautiful craft has everything it needed for extended space exploration, including a huge Greenhouse for growing food and maintaining positive oxygen levels plus eight Cryonic birthing units for crewmembers to sleep during the 6 year journey. A short Space-time later (3 yrs), they reached a planet that was rapidly deteriorating due to the effects of its two sun’s orbital similarities. It was situated inside of a binary star system they named Phásar and on the surface the atmosphere, it was much heavier than the gravity on Earth. The air was thin but their eyes beheld a shimmering beauty like no other has seen; A lavish green environment very capable of sustaining life... but where was everyone? After finding nothing but a few puddles of water, rolling hills and various types of plants they began to take core samples from surrounding areas. Soon, violent quakes sent them stumbling back to the Lander. The planet was breaking up and huge crevices obstructed their return. Lieutenant Benson fell into one of these craters and as the others rushed to help, they discovered something down inside. It was a Russian flag and Lieut. Benson fell to his death trying to retrieve it. When the two Suns came to a point where they were about to collide with each other, they were forced to abort the mission and return to the Ship. Now bound in a return course for Earth, a micro-meteor shower led them to problems they would never comprehend. One of the sample canisters fell victim to vibration and released its contents onto a deck below. As a result of a different atmospheric structure on the Ship, than was down on the small planet, some of the jars contents were allowed to evolve. Eerie transformations of five human-like figures slowly expose themselves to disbelieving crewmembers. They are inhabitants from the planet. These Phásärians as they called them, declare that there are billions of other people just like them down on the planets surface living in "Alontis". But it was too late to go back; the planet was destroyed by a supernova explosion. In the next few days, our heroic crewmembers engaged in a fierce combat with an intelligent variety of monstrous creatures that had also grown out of the remaining soil that dropped beneath the ships decking. These creatures desire a diet consisting of only one thing they could find, human flesh. Death, and destruction were present aboard SEARCH1 mixing with sexy romance and immoral sabotage keenly placed by an unknown crewmember that just may have their country’s Honor, at stake. Only a very few of them made it back to the ISS to report their findings and conclusions which were; There is no Heaven out there . . . However, they did bring a small piece of Hell back with them.
