A young woman from the ghetto, who’s been trapped into acting as an accessory to violent crimes, falls for a wealthy man and must hide their relationship from a greedy abusive street hustler and his two henchmen, while at the same time keeping her shameful secret life from the man she’s grown to love.

SYNOPSIS:

SYNOPSIS KAYLA HUFF, a beautiful young African-American woman, waits in a cheap motel room for her latest date’ to get ready for sex. Before they actually have intercourse, the door bursts open and STACEY and a couple of his henchmen, DAY DAY and THOMAS, break in. Then he and his buddies steal the john’s wallet and valuables and beat him viciously. The next day, in another part of the city, KAHLIL EVANS, a fast-rising executive at a marketing company, accepts congratulations from the CEO on the remarkable job he’s doing. Kahlil is a star on the rise, and everyone, including his sleazy colleague JAMES, knows it. That night, Kahlil runs into Kayla as she and her best friend LISA are grocery shopping at a convenience store. Kahlil is immediately attracted to Kayla, and she finds him charming, but he is not the kind of man she’s used to; she’s suspicious of him and then begins to feel out of her depth; he wants to see her again but she demurs. Lisa, knowing that Kahlil is a different kind of guy and wanting better for Kayla, gets Kahlil to give her his business card. Later, Lisa and Kayla are relaxing at Kayla’s home when Stacey bangs on her door. He wants Kayla to come with him for another job, when Kayla thought she was finished after the last one. Stacey knocks her around until she agrees to come along and do her part. After a couple of dates Kayla and Kahlil start to fall hard for each other until Stacey drags Kayla back into his world for another robbery. Kayla suddenly stops all interactions with Kahlil and Lisa. Lisa, furious, shows up at Kahlil’s office and tells him Kayla cares about him. Lisa persuades him to show up at a poetry reading that night. Lisa and Kayla reconcile and get ready to leave from Stacey’s house. Lisa talks her into coming out to the poetry reading, but James is there, since Stacey is his cousin (Stacey is also Lisa’s brother). James is clearly taken with Kayla, but Lisa drags her off, so Kahlil canaccidentally’ run into her. Meanwhile, Stacey is doing a favor for Big L: picking up a package being delivered to someone else. But the heist goes wrong, and Day Day and Thomas are killed. Big L wants money for the screw up, but Stacey doesn’t have it all; he goes into hiding. Kayla is reveling in her time with Kahlil, when James unexpectedly shows up at Kahlil’s house. Kahlil tells him how happy he is, that he may have found the perfect woman. When Kayla walks into the room, James is angry and jealous. He returns to the projects to find Stacey packing. James devises a plan to assist Stacey with his financial needs. Kayla returns to the projects where Stacey is hiding out in her house. He reminds Kayla that he was the one who avenged the death of her brother; C.J. Kayla feels guilty and agrees to do one last job. This time, though, the john is James. James tries to force himself onto Kayla, but she smashes a bottle of liquor over James head and runs out of the motel room. When she returns to Kahlil’ house, she encounters James has got there first and told him his version of events. They break up. Lisa gets her brother Stacey arrested. Kahlil and Kayla make up and get married.
