John Raymond Barker is a professional actor, singer, writer, director, and voice over artist living in NYC. A Master of Fine Arts graduate from the University of Houston School of Theatre, John’s New York theatre credits include the lead in the new pop/rock musical, Avarice, playing 9 characters as the lead in a staged reading of the new musical, Dumped, Truman Capote in a staged reading of the new musical, Don’t Go Gently; co-creating and performing a new devised work with Stages on the Sound called Gold Coast at Metropolitan Playhouse’s Gilded Stage Festival, Felix/Priest in Madame Bovary the musical, Lee Feldman’s Greene (workshop), and appearances throughout the cabaret and rock club scene. Regional theatre credits include Theatre Under The Stars: What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (World Premiere), Funny Girl, Grand Hotel, Zorro the Musical (World Premiere); 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Company: Grand Hotel; Alley Theatre: Christy in The Devil’s Disciple, A Flea in Her Ear; Stages Repertory Theatre: Shakespeare’s R&J (Houston Premiere), The Firebird (World Premiere); Stuart Ostrow’s Musical Theatre Lab/UH: Jerry Bock and Jerry Sterner’s 1040 (World Premiere); Children’s Theatre Festival: Jerry Bock and Sidney Berger’s The Magic Journey (World Premiere). John is also a Partner on YouTube with characters ranging from a vampire drag queen to a flamboyant ex-gay to a Broadway zombie.
