SYNOPSIS:

After discovering a classified Ministry of Defence file, reckless soldier Lucas learns that British banks dispersed ten caches of gold bullion across the country during the Blitz—and one was never recovered. Going A.W.O.L., he reunites four estranged friends for what he sells as a life-changing adventure: heartbroken Jonah, volatile Nick, capable outdoorsman Ed and class clown Leo. Despite being warned that the surrounding Highlands are privately owned, Lucas cuts through an electrified fence and leads them towards the cache. What they do not know is that the land belongs to the Apex Society, a centuries-old organisation staging an exclusive hunt for five wealthy clients while using unsuspecting glampers as human bait.

The friends are separated as the hunt begins and massive, primal creatures emerge from caves beneath the forest. Ed is killed, Lucas and Nick are captured, and Jonah and Leo fall in with Devlin, a wounded Interpol operative carrying evidence that could expose the Society’s global network. When Lucas and Nick are tied up as bait at the creatures’ emergence site, the Apex Society’s carefully controlled spectacle collapses into carnage as multiple predators overwhelm hunters, guards and organisers alike. Devlin detonates the cave, igniting the methane beneath the forest and obliterating the hunting ground. Only Lucas, Nick and Jonah escape alive, while Devlin’s evidence and disturbing global signals reveal the nightmare reaches far beyond Scotland.
