Jemma Hooper is an emerging writer, editor and producer whose understanding of production processes, technologies and presentation is backed by a 21 year professional background in IT. Jemma's current project is an ambitious one - to create a content channel on a similar scale as Nerdist or Geek and Sundry, but with a focus on the mechanics and dynamics of emotional connection with human experience that can only be delivered through story. Jemma is also hanging out a shingle as a copy editor, script doctor and business consultant.
Jemma's AntipodeYarns project will be initially kicking off with a D&D podcast and a Star Trek Adventures podcast. With four sessions in the can already for our D&D podcast, our collective is seeking to build an audience off the back of the role playing gaming craze that is doing very well in streaming markets at the moment. As our audience builds, we are hoping to purchase professional video equipment so that we can present a high quality video streaming capability as well.
A quick personal note: Jemma is a transgender woman who has recently started social transition. Her pronouns are she/her (they/them in a pinch) and she is unashamed of her transgender status. She retains the strength of will and personality that made her believe she could make a contribution to the media production industry, and is determined to show that being transgender is a great asset as a story-teller. Her unusual mix of experiences provides points of reference to a much broader audience than most, and she is seeking to ensure that this is a capability that can be used to excellent effect.
Unique traits: Deep technology background and gender transition experiences have made Jemma able to tell and sell stories to a larger audience.
