A BEAST IN HEAVEN, A MAN IN EXILE

A BEAST IN HEAVEN, A MAN IN EXILE
By Pag Kravvas

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

After his misguided release from an asylum, David is overrun by his ongoing mental disorders. In the mind-bending journey that follows, he has his revenge over his psychiatrist Adam and over all the Adams of his nightmarish world.

Pamela Bolinder

Logline Suggestion:

After a misdiagnosed psych eval, a long-term mental patient is released from a mental hospital. His mission is to right the wrong he has suffered at his now retired psychiatrists' hands.

Thoughts:

Revenging his wife and all the Adams of his world is too broad. This is a psycho with a purpose. Maybe his wife is remarried which intensifies his anger. And/or, he watches Dr. Adams having dinner with his wife through a diner window. Use a combination of biological, psychological, and environmental factors to increase his anger (tension). Act III he goes off his meds which fuel delusions or hallucinations—now David is very dangerous. The twist/end: David enters Dr. Adam's home. The audience is like OMG. Twist: Dr. Adams is ready for him. I would hold that Dr. Adams is ready for him until the end.

Pamela Bolinder

A few more suggestions: The misdiagnosis is by a psychiatric Intern, David has high-intelligence and the retired Dr. Adams is reserved and soft-spoken.

Phil Clarke

Appears that Pamela - like me - has read this script. I concur with her thoughts and ideas for the structure. These could certainly work and would help to build the drama to a clearer, more engaging finale.

Pamela Bolinder

I have not read the script. I was working off Pag's logline.
