This is a bit of an unusual song for me. It is taken from the Parable of the Sower - Luke 8:5-8. I have been told several times that it has a child-like quality, which surprises me. I actually wrote it with a full orchestra and choir in mind, but not having the resources to present it that way, I did all the voices myself. I wrote this song shortly after my brother died. It affected my Mother deeply. Part of the song has to do with my Mother and Father - who were divorced. One line read (with regard to my father) "and he'd cut all his veins till his blood it would flow." True, this is kind of a sad song but if you listen closely you find that it ends on an "upper." The sentence to remember is "And I thanked the Lord that I was still alive."
