Love song to my wife. Copyright 2015

You look away too

This is a vocal piece that could easily be used in a variety of scenes involving man/woman relationships - It's clean. It is basically the story of a couple where the guy is knocked out over the girl, and she buys into it - sort of. He can tell that there's something missing on her end because every time she looks at him, she looks away to - as if, she wishes there was something more there. In the song, he basically courts her affection and appeals to her sense of what it could be like if he...

If ever there was a time or place

This is a love song with three main sections, any of which would make a great support to variety romantic love scenes. This could be sung by a male or female. The song is scored in Sibelius for easy sheet music reproduction. This is just me an a synthesizer. The last third of the song may not make sense without reading the lyrics. These are available in the Resume section of my profile In the first section the man laments the fact that though he's trying to love her, he doesn't actually see...

Seeds along the way

This is a bit of an unusual song for me. It is taken from the Parable of the Sower - Luke 8:5-8. I have been told several times that it has a child-like quality, which surprises me. I actually wrote it with a full orchestra and choir in mind, but not having the resources to present it that way, I did all the voices myself. If you're not in a hurry, you might get something out of it. Copyright Woody Splawn 2013. (Reg#: SRu 1-148-320). Lyrics follow: Seeds along the way, Cast before the Lord....

The Sparrow Song

This is a Father/Daughter song. It's a song about a Father who doesn't quite understand himself on a certain point. It is written in a style that I have adapted that shuns or stays away from the typical pop song pattern of AABA. Life is a trip and one thing lead to another, but it's all part of the same song (life). Copyright 2012 Woody Splawn. Lyrics follow: Like a bird on a wire, I just sit Uninspired, Contemplating what life might be. Contemplating what life might be. If you loved me like...

Howlin at the Moon

Most would consider this Country Music I suppose; and I guess it is. When you're love striuck it can bring out something visceral in you. You may surprise yourself when you feel like Howling at the moon. Copyright 2001. Woody Splawn I'm howlin at the moon, I'm takin in my pride, I'm callin out to you. I don't care if people know, Just let the record show, I'm howlin at the moon. I'm shootin for the stars, I just flew past the sun, I'm coming out to you. I may not die but I don't know, Just...

Mother Alone

I wrote this song shortly after my brother died. It affected my Mother deeply. Part of the song has to do with my Mother and Father - who were divorced. One line read (with regard to my father) "and he'd cut all his veins till his blood it would flow." That seems rather gory, but all I was trying to say was that I believe he would atone for his sins if he could. Copyright 1982 Woody Splawn. Lyrics follow. There's a picture of my Mother, Taken when she was younger, And a prettier girl you...

Seems like somone's always telling me goodbye

True, this is kind of a sad song but if you listen closely you find that it ends on an "upper." The sentence to remember is "And I thanked the Lord that I was still alive." Life is good overall, and it has meaning, but there are obviously some poignant moments. When my wife passed away and, as it were, let go of my hand, it shook me pretty good. I Remember Thee (The Alzheimer Song)

If you think of it as "The Alzheimer Song" it is pretty self explanatory. I was particularly pleased with the way the counterpoint came out in the instrumental bridge. Copyright 2002 - Woody Splawn. Lyrics follow. Though I'd, like to, I can't remember, First thinking we. But I will always, Remember thee. No I, Can't be, All things to you love, More I would be. If thou wilt ever, Remember me.

Doesn't it Seem Like a Lovely Day

This is a song about a normal family, going through normal, everyday life. Copyright 1989 Woody Splawn. Lyrics follow: We get up on Sunday, And the sun it shines. We go off upon our merry way. We might turn in early, If our mind's that way. Doesn't it seem like a lovely day. Doesn't it seem like a lovely day. Doesn't it seem we've done this before. Wouldn't you just love to do it one more time. Doesn't it seem like a lovely day. We'll get up on Monday, To a darkened sky. We'll send kids upon...
