THE VATICAN E.T.
By Robert John Chapman

GENRE: Thriller
LOGLINE:

Medieval scholar, Maria Fennini's quest to validate Vatican Library sketches of an extraterrestrial autopsy by Michelangelo, challenges her life, her career and her sanity.

SYNOPSIS:

While working in the Vatican Secret Archives, Cardinal Martoneo finds sketches of an extraterrestrial autopsy in a Michelangelo folio. He's terrified and puts the folio back. When he returns the next morning to research them, the sketches are gone.

He exits the Vatican and checks into a hotel where he meets long-time friend and confidant, Medieval Anthropologist Maria Fennini. She's overwhelmed by his story and confused by a riddle he found with the sketches.

After a restless night, Maria calls paparazzi journalist and ex-lover, Roberto Valari who meets her in a café where they discuss the discovery and decide to meet up with Martoneo. At that moment, breaking news on the café's TV, reveals Cardinal Martoneo has been murdered by two friars.

Realising this knowledge of the E.T. places them in mortal danger, Maria and Roberto set out to solve the riddle, much to the delight of Cardinal Nesci, who removed the E.T. sketches and had Martoneo murdered.

During the pursuits that follow, Maria and Roberto discovery Nesci will do anything to stop the E.T. revelation from destroying five hundred years of alien, technological, disclosures that have enriched the Vatican.

The riddle leads Fennini and Valari to a Rome Monastery where they find the E.T.'s skeleton in a sarcophagus. Nesci, turns up just as Fennini and Valari open it only to be overpowered by the resident friars who put Nesci in the sarcophagus and lead Fennini and Valari away.

The friars, who have secretly accommodated the E.T.s for centuries, reveal their long association to Fennini and Valari and release them without prohibition regarding the revelation of their encounter.

Fennini and Valari reveal their story to Valari's editor only to be shown the door. Frustrated with the editor's rejection, Fennini and Valari doubt their own credibility until they have one last, life-changing encounter with an old friar and an E.T. in an alley in Rome.
