SYNOPSIS:

England 1997. Rose Wilde, 23, driven with ambition and just about to graduate from Oxford University with highest degrees in marketing, is an emancipated young woman, who’s sure that professional success is the path to happiness. Even though she has a loving boyfriend, her entire focus lays on her future career, rather than partying like the rest of her generation. But there is something that separates Rose even from the other careerists at Oxford: Rose did not grew up in a family of doctors or lawyers, Rose is the daughter of Morris Wilde - infamous playboy and owner of the erotic magazine Wild, a person she has openly detested most of her life for leaving her mother years ago and being a crappy dad ever since. Morris, on the other hand, is someone, who lives the life he preaches from the pages of his misogynistic magazine, and therefore is a dinosaur in the emerging world of the nineties. And even though, at sixty, he’s vibrant enough to hold on to his decadent ways - parties, drugs and bimbos, and still has the bravado of a successful man, his glory days are now far behind him. He is a yesterday’s man and a source of constant disappointment for Rose, who against all odds, secretly wants this man to be there for her. The series begin at Rose’s graduation party. It is truly a big day for her that that even Morris promised he wouldn’t fuck up and miss. Which, of course he does. As Rose stares at the empty chair in the end of the rows, utter disappointment and anger take hold of her. But she’s most angry with herself for believing Morris would somehow be different than, well, Morris, thisч time. What she doesn’t know, is that Morris skipped the event because of pending problems within his magazine. As the market for magazines like Wild slowly diminishes, the shareholders of the publishing house are trying to get rid of its dirty image by hiring a young marketing yuppie, called Tony to clean it. Something that Morris feels not only as a personal insult to him, but feels it’s a plot to take over his magazine and destroy his life’s work. Morris is desperate to retain control over his magazine, but his options are limited. As a very poor attempt to make up for not showing up at Rose’s graduation, Morris invites her to his 60th birthday party. When Rose actually turns up, because her boyfriend talks her into it, Morris realizes that he might have an answer to his problems right in front of him. The shareholders want a young and ambitious person co-leading the company, why not give them someone that is better to control than the guy they recruited? He confronts Rose with the idea of making her head of marketing and tries to use her weak spot for him as a weapon, telling her the truth – that his enemies are at the gates and she is the only one that could help him save it. And even though he was never much of a father, now he needs her to be his daughter. But Rose is smart enough to sense that her father is just trying to manipulate her and even though she wants nothing more, than to believe him, she rejects and leaves him standing in the street. Instead Rose starts the job of her dreams the next day in a big prestigious company, realizing pretty quickly that her ideas of reaching the top as fast as possible were rather naive. The truth is, as a woman with no connections, she starts of as a little wheel. Rose swallows her pride, until a real shock changes everything: She is informed that Morris had a heart attack the day after the party. Her anger and disappointment with Morris mix with guilt for letting him down may have something to do with his heart attack. Without much thinking, Rose quits her new job and takes over the position at Wild, that turns out to be a rabbit’s hole to a whole new world.
