When a massive solar flare erupts causing widespread blindness in its wake, a team of scientists in the Antarctic are shielded from the effects of the storm but now must get back to mainland before they're stranded permanently.

Dr. Johanna ‘Joey’ Masters is a brilliant, albeit reserved, astrophysicist spending months in the Antarctic as part of a multi-national Explorer’s Program. She discovers a coronal mass ejection (CME) set to wreak havoc on the Earth’s electrical systems. Initially, her discovery appears to be ignored. The austral summer is winding down, and the base is preparing for the winter months.

The solar flare proves to be a super storm of events that spell chaos the world over. Everything that plugs into a wall is disrupted. Fires erupt in homes, downed planes, all of the earth’s power is but a memory. What’s more, unbeknownst to our group, is that the terrible perfect storm of electricity and radiation has blinded more than half of the world’s population.

Some survivors, like our team in the Antarctic; People living in mountainous regions without power, coal miners, and a precious few have maintained their sight. The Antarctic is not charm school, and many of the inhabitants are there because they slid down the globe of society to find themselves at the very bottom.

Is this the end of times?Have the meek inherited the earth? What is to become of a society without government, without power? Now, the only real power belongs to those who can see from their own two eyes.
