In their search they discover the pope’s murderer and leader of the Crimson Crescent is Cardinal Ahmedor Niddamway. He is not only a fifth columnist who has risen to power in the Church, but a radical jihadist who has been brainwashed to believe he is the foretold Twelfth Imam, the Mahdi who intends to establish a global Caliphate by declaring universal Shariah Law. Thrust into a race to stop the Conclave, the three improbable resisters must get inside the Vatican and somehow not only expose the Crimson Crescent, but also try to do the impossible: convince the bloodthirsty Niddamway that hate is not the answer. Their quest is besieged by unseen obstacles which nearly defeat them along the way until Navarro realizes, through Rachel’s ultimate sacrifice, that it is his task to not only stop the Mahdi, but also save him in an heroic act of forgiveness, proving that God’s love conquers all.
