Andy Sobel

I like stories and story-telling. Sitting around with friends kind of stories, meeting someone in some far away place kind of stories, stories out of books, stories out of movies, stories out of life experiences.

I’ve been lucky. Born and raised in Mexico City, growing up in four countries, traveling the world and the U.S. Working in a variety of jobs that have allowed me to have close relationships and friendships with a diverse group of people. From working on the slime-line processing salmon in Alaska to software engineering in Silicon Valley to bilingual teaching in San Francisco and Austin to community organizing.

These life experiences have given me ample opportunities to write. Professionally, I have written technically for hardware and software, as an educational researcher for published studies, and academically for my dissertation. Personally, song-writing, poetry, and short essays have been ways to express myself creatively since high school. For the last few years, I have been captivated my the possibility of painting pictures in a reader’s minds via the unique format of screenplays.
