Being born on a volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean was not something I preplanned for myself. I would like to say that I grew up there and become some great bi kahuna but that was not the case. Yes at this time you may have the idea that the volcanic island was actually Oahu part of the Hawaiian Islands. As a child of an Air Force father we did some traveling but ended up in Blaine Minnesota where I spent most of my childhood. It was during that time I found myself intrigued by the creative world I lived in as I observed all things without judgement. Even though my introverted self would tend to hide in a personal bubble I continued to be intrigued as I stepped outside my comfort zone time after time. At first it was music and even if I could not play an instrument with any precision other than a few chords really well, I grew to find synthesizers most amazing. It wasn't until my adulthood that I was able to buy a synthesizer and still able to play a few chords really well. Junior high I found myself exploring photography and took pictures for the school paper and yearbook. I enjoyed how each photo told a story of those that were in front of my lens. With various struggles in high school I found myself trying to find my identity, my purpose and that is when I discovered that I enjoyed writing. I wrote poetry to lyrics of songs that only had a few chords to short little diddies of stories that were the product of fleeting thoughts. In my senior year, my english teacher shared with me how she feels I have a gift of writing. I don't regret not attempting to go down that road at the time because all these years I feel my life experiences have given me an insight that wasn't ready at that time. My continued experiences began to grow as I entered the Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman, the 'p' is silent unless you think I work with dead people, well there are times I do though, lets not go there. After the service a failed nursing education, failed marriage, and other obstacle that I now consider to be character building brought me to the here and now. So I write in a variety of genres cause life is full of good and bad, scary and joyful, funny and serious, and obscure to out of this world. It is all those many emotions and ideas that I hope to express, to move the audience and touch hearts and minds along the way., no unwanted touching of course. Meanwhile I drive across the country in a big rig and low and behold I can observe so many types of people that have so many types of character to find inspiration in my writings. Now the future awaits.
