From short films and stage productions to music videos and commercials — director Gregg Masuak’s award-winning career is as diverse as it is singular.
Gaining the attention of music executives with his earliest, avant-garde shorts, Masuak launched a career that found him directing the likes of Spice Girls and Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Lionel Ritchie, and Harry Connick Jr. His passion and power to bring out the best in his performers not only earned him a Juno and 2 MTV Music Video Awards; it also led the ad industry to his doorstep.
By “honing the abstract into something more accessible,” Masuak found the psychological sweet spot advertisers and performers were seeking, generating videos for the likes of Spice Girls and Kylie to commercials for major brands including Emporio Armani, Stella McCartney, working with actors like Courtney Cox and Penelope Cruz). Most recently The Independent dubbed his AIDS Alliance spot as “one of the most provocative ads to be screened on British television.”
Masuak’s short films have also earned acclaim at the London International Film Festival, the Gold Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. Currently, Masuak is producing and gearing up to direct several self-penned feature films and TV series, ping-ponging between LA London, and the rest of the world.
