A dedicated nurse fights to save her hospital from closure until she learns patients are being murdered and using the same dynamic thrust, stages war against it.

SYNOPSIS:

Beth Davis is a dedicated nurse in a fight for life - not her own - those of patients no longer in her care.

As Sister-in-Charge of Emergency she's titled 'Angel' by patients, for her care and benevolence.

Each day begins with her ordering dinners for all, including those patients awaiting transport home.

When Matron calls a meeting announcing the closure, Beth's mind immediately goes to, "the dinners... did I spend too much... am I to blame?". Dismissing the thought, she knows she must do all she can to prevent it. She contacts her union for support. When this fails, she organizes a Rally.

Under threats of expulsion, and no reference, she stands firm. There's more at stake here than her job... patients!

She refuses to desist. Her aims, paramount.

Then, as if hit by a bomb, Sister Johnnie tells her of a ward where patients are being murdered - administered medication which shuts down their organs causing painful death. Beth's fight now, takes on greater purpose and urgency. She complains to police. But with no real evidence to support her allegations they can do nothing. The medication is neither charted nor shown to be scripted. Only a note under the tablet bottle lists each patient's name and dosage. Nurse Nichols is tasked with copying the note and patient charts, which conflict.

Beth seeks clarification from Wards-man, Tony, who creates terror in staff when he sings "Jesus" songs as he takes bodies to the mortuary. He confirms, "More bodies transported from that ward than all other wards combined."

Beth knows too much. A car accident. Beth is injured. Her previously peaceful life is thrown into chaos. Faceless men take control, monitor and thwart her every move. That is, until they discover a dark undercurrent threatening their own existence.

The hospital closes. Beth is without a job except for her second job at the Fish Shop which supplemented her hospital income.

Evidence provided by Johnnie, Nichols and Tony, and police charge and prosecute Matron, the Office Manager (Mr Smarton) and two doctors. They're found guilty and gaoled for life. But no one squeals. The identities of those who gave the orders remain concealed. They've been left free to continue their extermination spree in other hospitals. These clandestine figures are feared also, by the faceless men who took control of Beth's life.

Now in the Fish-shop full-time, customers remember and are grateful for Beth's efforts. She's embarrassed. A customer challenges her. "So, what do you consider your greatest achievement?" Beth goes quiet for a moment. Then, "My greatest achievement is my failure..." the answer left unfinished to the enquirer but in her mind, "... to save the patients."

The faceless men, now in fear for their own well-being redeem themselves by reversing the decisions for Beth's destruction.

Beth opens her mail. Her excitement cannot be contained. Her mum confirms, "Today is, a great day!"
