THE BENEFACTOR!
By Patricia Poulos

GENRE: Thriller, Drama
LOGLINE:

A businesswoman incensed by the treatment of farmers by predator bankers, uses her own money to pay out their debts and provides interest-free loans in an attempt to prevent murder/suicides on the land, as she dodges the hitman.

SYNOPSIS:

Anne Bennett is in the upper echelon of society courted by politicians with all doors open to trap her with none none prepared to repeal the adverse Legislation which will lead to poverty and starvation. She refuses their offers to join them and travels the length and breadth of the nation speaking to farmers then realizes she can do more! That with just $2m she can make a difference.

A plane-trip to the outback seated next to Senator Masters brings all to the fore when he warns... "Let me put it this way, if you don't join us, then you are the enemy and we destroy the enemy." She ignores the warning.

Hit-men are engaged.

Without alerting her Bank of its purpose, she withdraws $2m. But her request for a further $2m sends the bank into lock-down. It cannot refuse to release her money but feigns delay, claiming "... clearance.... new 'terrorist' laws".

Unable to get all the money she needs and resistance of politicians to repeal the destructive legislation, she places ads in all major newspapers and decides to hold a Rally. Massive world media attends expecting hundreds of thousands. "Sabotage"... is presumed by the perpetrators of the bomb and death-threats she'd ignored.

A group interested to hear more invite her to speak. On arrival, she realizes she's in danger.

Having delivered her speech she's prevented from leaving by three leather-clad Bikies. Then a voice harkens from the obscured exit. "Ready to go?" Her captors move slightly seeking the source of the voice. She escapes. She does not know him, but it's an 'out'. She'll deal with whatever else arises once she's free.

'The Voice' stands tall. His height, bald head and huge muscled folded arms served as a warning to her captors he's not one to be messed with. His arm goes across the door-frame as a barrier, to prevent others leaving. She goes under and out, followed by her rescuer, to be ushered into a taxi. Seated, she realizes, "There's no driver!"

Her rescuer enters and sits in the driver's seat. Then looking at his eyes in the rear-vision mirror, Bennett recognises him. He's the taxi-driver who delivered her to the Forum. "Didn't hear your job called. Was worried so I doubled back to make sure you were okay." Saved, for another day.

Anticipating her demise, Bennett takes steps to ensure no farmer will ever have to repay his interest-free loan.
