SYNOPSIS:

1st Episode:

Pitch: Chance is the last Englishman held in the notorious Carabanchel prison in Madrid. His reputation and skills capture the imagination of corrupt officials for future crime sprees when he gets out. His charisma and martial arts skills enable him to recruit a band of international brothers; hit-men inmates from the four corners of the Earth, who battle constantly for survival against the indigenous gypsy population of the prison. Bravery, loyalty and low cunning propel them to the final day of the Carabanchel prison: Violently fast and furious character led sequences of devastating martial arts and galvanic scenes of violence in a place that will never again be seen.

His orchestrated release by corrupt officials enables him to continue his drug smuggling operations to even greater rewards but the chain of events nearly cost him his life and he escapes by the skin of his teeth.

The series begins with the story of how a regular, conventional, law abiding guy becomes embroiled in the perilous world of drug smuggling and the consequential suspense and action-packed adventures that are part and parcel of the international drug runner's lot.

It highlights the endearing loyalty and high moral fibre required of loved ones to survive the stresses and strains of incarceration whilst in prison and the temptations of sex, drugs and booze in the wealthy underworld of drug trading.

The series is a revelation of drug smuggling techniques and the accompanying hair-raising passage through various sea ports and high-speed seaborne operations from North Africa.

Protected by corrupt officials to enable the drug smuggling, yet hunted down by the same officials when loyalties change, the twists and turns of CHANCE adds new meaning to the word.

WHAT IT IS.

The show is the true story of an Englishman and his wife ensnared into the drug trafficking trade by unscrupulous gangsters and how the Englishman, named Chance, lived up to his name by taking chances that changed his life forever and brought so much meaning to the word during the escapades that took him from being a highly respected martial arts teacher to becoming a skilled smuggler of drugs, both on land, in the air and on the high seas.

.

The time spent in prison only served to improve his smuggling skills and expand his contacts in the world of drug smuggling, including dealings with corrupt officials in Spain and in North Africa.

We see the emotions of men under pressure in prison and the extraordinary bond of love that keeps man and wife together under duress and conditions that would wreck any marriage.

CHANCE is a show about coercion, risk, love, loyalty and consequences.

CHANCE is a show about corruption, drug smuggling, prison, martial arts and gripping adventure.

THE SHOW'S THEMES.

Chance and the consequences.

As the movie Traffic explores the illegal drugs trade from a number of perspectives, CHANCE, is an account of actual events with real people involved in the drugs trade; a revelation of various methods of drug smuggling and the consequences of getting caught, which Midnight Express tells in a xenophobic manner; CHANCE tells it as it really is in a foreign prison.

Loyalty: why and where loyalties lie.

Men are drawn to each other, regardless of race, colour or creed when survival is challenged by unfair odds. In CHANCE, the unfair odds are the indigenous gypsy population of the prison and the brutal guards who select lone foreigners to intimidate and abuse. The bond of friendship grows into undying loyalty as the band of international brothers rely on each other for protection. The bond continues into freedom when they work together in drug smuggling operations.

The strength of love and the bond of marriage are key to the mental survival of couples torn apart by the separation of prison. CHANCE demonstrates the stresses and strains placed upon that bond and how it continues when the dynamics change from prison to international smuggling.

Corruption.

How prison earns and maintains its reputation as being 'The University of Crime'.

How corrupt judiciary and prison officials help drive the impetus of the crime wave of drug smuggling and high-ranking police and military officials ensure the smooth-running export of drugs from their regions with impunity.

Martial arts.

The reason for the Chances' being in Spain was to start their martial arts business and live their dream on the Costa del Sol.

By chance, their martial arts dojo was adjacent to the offices of the men responsible for coercing Chance into their drug running operations.

Chance became the prison martial arts instructor when he was put into the Carabanchel prison; this was a privilege engineered by prison officials to entice Chance into further smuggling exploits when he is freed.

Because of his skilful violence against gypsy attackers, other foreign prisoners are attracted to Chance and so the Mezclado ('mixture' in Spanish) was born, the brotherhood of international villains, formed to oppose the constant aggression from gypsies and brutal guards. Chance is the leader of the Mezclado.

Chance's Bushido mindset drives him to peak physical fitness and ruthless application of his bone crushing skills.

Unlike the tournament theme and techniques of Enter the Dragon, Chance and his band of brothers display shocking violence that leaves opponents unconscious and badly injured. There are no sporting applications in Chance's style of martial arts.
