Sean studied classical piano at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, from age 8-14, and trumpet starting at age 10. At Concord Academy in Concord, MA, he studied jazz performance and theory, Western music history, classical theory, and jazz arranging.
In 2004, he studied jazz composition, arranging, theory, sight singing, and performance at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, France.
In 2008, Sean received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, where he studied composition, performance (piano, trumpet, guitar), theory (classical and jazz), Western music history, ethnomusicology, electronic music, and conducting. He received the 2007-2008 Presser Foundation Fellowship for outstanding academic performance in the Music Department.
After working in San Francisco for five years as a professional jazz pianist and private piano teacher, Sean moved to Brooklyn, NY, to work as a freelance composer. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in composition at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.
