ME & MR. JOHNSON
By Michael Matteo

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE: A man attempts to take back control of his life from his domineering penis that has sabotaged every relationship he has ever had because of an insatiable craving that conflicts with the man’s desire for a monogamous relationship.

SYNOPSIS:

SHOW SYNOPSIS: Ed (short for erectile dysfunction) an average looking man in his early 30’s has spent years caving in to the needs of his penis; an organ that refuses to take no for an answer and is the lovable antagonist of the series. After losing Donna, his fiancée and the woman he believes to be his soul mate, Ed realizes that he’s a very nice guy (as a matter of fact, all men are nice); it is his penis, that makes him do bad things. The pilot episode focuses on what transpired between Ed and Donna (and Ed’s Penis) and Ed realizes that for him to find true happiness, he must figure out a way to just say, “NO!” to the demands of his little head. Ed, a would be character actor, amateur magician who makes a living from doing numerous part time jobs from substitute teaching to being a human billboard, lives in a basement apartment in Brooklyn in a house that is owned by his parents who have been married for 35 years. They are a Jewish/Italian couple (mother Jewish, father Italian). His mother finds it incapable of minding her own business and guilt is her most potent weapon. His father was a player when he was younger and refuses to believe that he ever lost his sex appeal (but he did decades earlier) Ed spent 8 years in Catholic school and attributes much of his twisted, sexual adult life to guilt and pasta. Each episode is based on decisions that Ed attempts to make regarding relationships and life in general and how his penis sabotages him to have its needs met. Characters: Ed Ed is a likable jack of all trades and master of none. He has never been able to be faithful to a woman and comes to the realization that this is due to his inability to ignore the needs of his penis. Ed desperately wants to find a woman and grow old with her. Ed works numerous part time jobs because he’s never been able to find his niche in life. Some of his jobs are being a clown for children’s birthday parties, acting, amateur photography. He will do anything and everything to put food on the table and since he lives in his parents’ basement his bills are relatively low; however, he sacrifices low bills for being driven crazy by them (as well as his penis.) Ed was raised by his mother, who is Jewish, but attended Catholic school (because his father is Catholic) and Ed blames part of his issue with his penis on dogma that he was exposed to during his 8 years of attending Catholic school. Penis Ed’s Penis is a lovable antagonist. He has 1 goal and 1 goal only: find me a variety of women and let me do what I do best! He is an organ with sexual A-D-D and is only concerned about getting what he wants when he wants it. He puts Ed in difficult situations and has been in control over Ed’s life for his entire life. Now, as Ed attempts to turn the tables and take back his life, the Penis knows that will never happen and goes out of his way to show Ed that he is the boss because that’s the rule of the universe for all men (with the exception of eunuchs) and you can’t change universal rules. Ed’s Parents & Aunt Rose Ed’s mom is a Jewish woman who has spent her life raising her family. Ed has a brother (he is only mentioned and not seen in season 1) who his mother always compares him to, and Ed always loses. His mother is a control freak who uses guilt to manipulate Ed to do what she wants him to do. She is constantly involved in his life and drives him crazy. Ed’s father is a white shoe wearing older man who still thinks he’s desired by women of all ages. Their idea of foreplay is a good argument. They also care for Aunt Rose, an 80 year old woman, who says the most outrageous things and blames them on her senility. She claims to be on her death bed and each birthday, Christmas, Hanukah will be her last, so they need to make it special, but she has been doing this for 10 years. Each episode has a variety of different women in them. Donna is in the first 2 episodes. She is a successful psychologist who was engaged to Ed, but he cheated on her with her cousin, on Christmas Eve, at Donna’s parent’s family Christmas party in the spare bedroom and all over the guest’s coats. Dr. B.F. Renniks is an off the wall behavioral psychologist that Ed seeks help from in episode 4, he will be in several episodes where he uses some extremely unconventional behavioral psychology to help Ed, but eventually it will fail.
