Fiercely committed to the development of disability arts, he has been described as a man of deceptive surfaces…a compact, powerfully built man with an air of vitality and a healthy, country boy's face.
With big ambitions for the small but gutsy company, Restless Dance Theatre, Philip has raised the profile for the company since his appointment in 2009.
He directed Next of Kin (2010) for the Youth Ensemble, From The Ground Up (2010) and Siblings (2009) for the education program, produced Debut 2 (2009) and Debut 3 (2011) for the dancers direct project, Beauty (2010) for the Touring Company and Take Me There (2011) for the ComeOut Festival.
Restless Dance Theatre collaborated with Closer Productions in 2008 to create the multi-award winning 'Necessary Games' - a dance film triptych exploring human intimacy, connection and the games we play.
Philip is currently collaborating with Guest Director from Sydney, Dean Walsh for the 2nd stage development of 'In-habit...nature versus nurture' (2013) for the Restless Touring Company. He has commissioned Melbourne-based Director/Composer, Zoe Barry for the Youth Ensemble's major production for 2012, 'Howling Like a Wolf'.
