Sophie is from South London and trained at Rose Bruford College, graduating with a degree in American Theatre Arts. In her 2nd year she studied acting at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas, USA, also dabbling in directing, theatre speech and children's theatre. She immersed herself in the American culture which particularly helped her grasp the sociology behind the plays.
In early 2009, Sophie returned from Tokyo, Japan, where she worked on some productions with leading English speaking theatre companies, appeared on a popular Japanese soap opera as an African diplomat using French and Japanese language. She also starred as the murdered teacher Daisy Whitelock in the BBC Radio 4 drama ‘A Tokyo Murder’ - recorded on location.
Her characters range from African, to British, to American, classic and modern styles for example her role of Tituba in ‘The Crucible’ to the neurotic Lady India in ‘Ring round the Moon’.
