About Alyssa

I am a pianist, songwriter/composer and singer who has done a little acting and written a couple of books. I co-wrote a children's book with my husband, Keith Helton, titled "They Call Me Sam-Boy" based on the imaginary adventures of my autistic son, Sam (available on Amazon, btw). My music specialties are jazz and gospel, but I've played and sung about every style imaginable over the years. I played keys on albums for saxophonist Nate Lawrence and the Jackson Mass Choir, and have directed choirs and small orchestras. I am currently working on a children's educational series with my husband, and am working to start a private school for special needs children with a focus on involving them in the arts through music, acting, visual art, etc.
