WIDOW'S EYE
By Chris Shawbell

GENRE: Action, Sci-fi, Thriller
LOGLINE:

An outlaw band of mismatched smugglers struggles to outwit the multi-system Tana Corporation and escape off the Tana controlled mining planet known as Widow's Eye.

SYNOPSIS:

Within an enormous enclosed city on the planet, Widow’s Eye, the Tana Corporation maintains a strict regime and a watchful eye on its contract labor citizenry – it is business, order and efficiency are everything. Yet through the fingers of this tightly balled corporate fist falls an audacious crew of rag-tags who run the black market under the stern leadership of Kaliber, an infamous mercenary with a reputation well over four decades long. He in turn follows the dictates of the enigmatic crime lord, Parker, who lurks secretly within the safety of a V.R. interface. Each of the wing-and-a-prayer outlaws gambles with their freedom for their own reasons.

Winston Reed, the amiable lead pilot for the gang, seeks only to earn enough to get off-planet with his girlfriend, Cyndi, before her unauthorized pregnancy is detected and their baby is taken and made a company ward as he was and trapped into a thirty year labor contract to repay the debt of his upbringing and second-rate training in vocational mediocrity. He hopes as well that Dereck, his wild-child best friend, will avoid permanent incarceration or worse long enough to make the trip with them.

When Kazuya, the much feared and fabled Chief of Samurai and Security, having caught the scent of intrigues, arrives unannounced at the opulent office of Tana’s Importations & Distributions, Usage, the desperate and devious department Chief Executive, reacts. Then a disastrous domino effect develops, that sets Winston, Cyndi, and the entire gang on a collision course with a citywide force of armed troopers, Kazuya’s elite corporate samurai, and the most deadly threat of all, a sociopathic cyber-assassin known throughout the Inner-Systems as the Widow Maker.
