I lived all of my life in the Greater Boston area until I moved to Los Angeles two years ago. Best decision ever - I LOVE living here. Weather is much better, great people, amazing scenery. Did Improv at the LA Connection Theater in Sherman Oaks and with them, played the 'big room' at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood six times!
As an actor, it is much better living in a 'company town'. In Boston, there was plenty of talent, but nothing to draw us together - difficult to have a 'community of actors' there. Here, the SAG Foundation sponsors many free events: Evening where an episode of a tv show, or a film will be screened, followed by a Q&A with cast, crew, directors or others. Career development seminars, plus the amazing Don LaFontaine memorial Voice-over Labs. Don was the 'voice' of MoviePhone and many other commercials and shows.
Lots to explore - I want to learn about my 'new' city, state - I can tell I will be occupied for quite a long time.
My life can be summed up by a line from the underrated and talented Mae West (she discovered Cary Grant!): "I've been things and seen places."
