About Michaela

Michaela von Schweinitz is an independent filmmaker with over 20 years of production experience. Currently she is preparing her feature screenplay, a murder mystery, for the Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany.

Having worked as a journalist in both print and broadcasting, von Schweinitz moved quickly on to shooting video documentaries and narrative films. She wrote, produced, and directed the 16 mm short film "Kiss Me" (Küss mich) in her home town Bonn/Germany in 1999 before she moved to Los Angeles where she wrote, produced, and directed the award winning short "The Meeting". In 2005 she was hired to produce, direct, and photograph the feature "Love Songs of a Third Grade Teacher" in association with Filmmakers Alliance, a collective of independent filmmakers.

Von Schweinitz has been contributing to essential parts of the movie making process: development, writing, directing, photography, sound, editing and producing. Her experience and knowledge in these fields allow her to efficiently collaborate on set as well as during development, pre-production, and post. She studied screenwriting at UCLA Extension and continuously studies acting and directing at Judith Weston's "Two Lights Studio".

Michaela von Schweinitz is a member of Filmmaker Alliance, Film Independent Los Angeles, and Alliance of Women Directors.
