About Janine

Janine Bowen has been active in the Fashion/Entertainment business since 1999. She spent her formative years at MAC Cosmetics working with the likes of Grace Lee, Melissa Gibson, and Jane MacKay. During her tenure she had the opportunity to attend master classes from local and international artists:
Topolino, Kabuki, Florence Cornet, Joanne Gair, Ve Neil, Tana D’Amico, Gordon Espinet, Jon Hennessey and Billy B

Janine has developed her own style and a tenacious work ethic. She believes "make-up shouldn’t be used to camouflage a person's beauty, it should enhance and celebrate it".

Janine was a main stay back stage for Fashion Cares from 2004-2008 as well as worked the touring D-Squared and Giambattista Valli Fashion Shows. She now uses her acquired skills and experience as one of the original members of the Maybelline Toronto Fashion Week Makeup Team.

Janine has worked with many budding hopefuls and veterans such as Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Lawrence Fishburne, Colin Mochrie, Helena Joy, Stacey Mackenzie, Andreena Mill, Jewelle Blackman, Da Brat, Jack Layton and Olivia Chow.

Janine completed her formal training in makeup at George Brown College in 1998 and returned to Marca College Hair and Esthetics in 2012 to learn hair. With a background in Human Services working as a social worker, she feels the skills and training she obtained have been invaluable to her work as an artist.

Janine can be quoted as saying, “people skills are essential in all industries especially when working closely with the public. I often spend a great deal of my time listening to the personal experiences of my clients. When you know how to listen actively it makes them feel much more comfortable and I can really make a connection with that person".
