About Birgit

Movieguide $10,000 Kairos Prize winner and first-generation Norwegian-American Birgit Syran Myaard (pronounced BEERgit saRAN MYerd) has honed her craft since her debut screenplay garnered a finalist nod from Creative World Awards. Her second script received an Emerging Screenwriters Family Category win (8th overall) and her adaptation, from her own translation, of one of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's plays is in development. When writing, Chicago-born Birgit draws on her heritage, experiences gained living overseas (most recently in Australia), and explorations of US culture through the eyes of people she has met overseas. Currently, she is writing a biopic on a notable American.

Unique traits: I enjoy solving puzzles and researching things, and I try to learn something new every day.
