SYNOPSIS:

Marissa’s been obsessed with finding her sister’s murderer for over a year. With the recent death of both her parents and her sister, Marissa clings to her sanity. Her only saving grace is her husband, Julian. Julian convinces Marissa to commit herself to a sanitarium for intense therapy where she can heal. While Marissa is away Julian decides to sell their home, an ancient family heirloom, in order to start a new life with Marissa. Six months later, when Marissa returns, the house is sold and Julian is moving them to her parent’s beach cottage. They’ll live there until their new house is built. Marissa’s best friend, FRAN is also staying at a cottage close by, until her divorce is over. While at the cottage, Marissa starts receiving phantom phone calls from her dead sister. Jessica’s voice is heard just under the dial tone talking to a man – a married man with whom she’s having an affair. Could he be her killer? Marissa soon discovers she’s pregnant – Julian is furious. How can she take care of a baby when she can’t take care of herself? But Marissa’s adamant she’s keeping the child. Julian hesitantly accepts his fate of being a father long before he’s ready. The phone calls are relentless and Marissa desperately listens to the strange conversations between her sister and the man; and now she’s seeing her sister’s ghost. Marissa’s sure that Jessica wants to reveal the name of her murderer. At first, Marissa keeps the conversations from Fran, but after Fran discloses her secret – that she’s gay – Marissa begins to open up about what’s going on with the phone. They set out for town and find that there has been trouble on the phone lines, as they’ve been working on them. Maybe that’s what caused the weird conversations. But soon after – and after Julian has left on a business trip - the calls start again. After another vision leaves Marissa in the hospital – and with the threat of losing the baby - Julian rushes home. Marissa is released from the hospital. The phone rings and the conversation reveals that Julian was the man talking to her sister – the man her sister was having an affair with. Marissa panics. After confronting Julian, she takes a knife and stabs him, knocks over a candle setting the kitchen on fire, then locks herself in the bedroom. Julian pleads with her to come out, to listen to him, but she holds firm. Julian slams his shoulder into the door. Will he kill Marissa now? Marissa’s freaked – she climbs out the window. Marissa runs for her life – for the life of her child. Julian follows her. As she runs up the cliff side, her mind flashes details of her sister’s murder scene. Julian’s not far behind now. He’ll kill her for certain. Another flash of memory – but it is Marissa who is fighting with Jessica. Jessica’s, angry, yelling, but Marissa can’t make out what she’s saying. At the top of a cliff, Julian catches up to Marissa and she lunges out of the way. Julian falls over the side of the steep cliff. Julian pleads for Marissa to help him. A flash of Jessica’s dead body and Marissa standing over her sister’s body, bloody knife in hand. Marissa senses a strange déjà vu as she looks down at her husband, clinging to the cliff side. She smiles, then tells Julian she knows all about his affair with her sister. Julian screams his apology. Marissa stomps on his hands. Julian falls to his death. At the scene of the “accident” Marissa is being lead to the ambulance by Fran. Fran laments, it’s so terrible that Julian killed Jessica and that he was going to kill Marissa, as well. Guess you never really know anyone – do you?
