About David

David Ogunde worked for many years in Hubert Ogunde Theatre (his father)
Company where he participated in theatre performances throughout the
coast of West Africa, England and Canada. David was a frontline dancer,
actor and performer for many years in Africa, the UK and other parts of the
world. The troupe represented Nigeria in performances at the Apollo Theatre,
Canada and Madison Square Garden in New York. It was the first African
troupe to perform at the Llangollen Eisteddfod Festival in Wales in a tent of
an audience of over ten thousand people, and featured in movies such as
the Oblong Box starring Vincent Price. His father Chief (Dr) Hubert Ogunde’s
was the doyen of the Nigerian Theatre and film making, with several cinema
release feature films, apart from having been the Nigerian Theatre household
name for over three decades. In 1980, the BBC broadcasted a special
documentary on the life and works of Hubert Ogunde. Ogunde Production
Company hosted and featured in the production of ‘Mister Johnson’ starring
Pierce Brosnan in 1990. David has written, produced and directed more than
half a dozen plays, some of which have been performed to thousands of
audiences. An alumni of National Film and Television School in
Buckinghamshire, England, David has worked with multinational companies and successfully
led projects in over seventeen countries in Europe as well as in America
and Brazil.
