Keenan is a versatile young tenor flirting between musical theatre and opera. At the age of 18, Keenan performed onstage in the chorus of Opera Lyra Ottawa, singing in Barber of Seville, Roméo et Juliette, and Falstaff. Then, wanting to become a better-rounded performer, he left for Oakville and studied for three years at Sheridan College’s Musical Theatre Performance program where he graduated with honours.
Since then Keenan has continued a love affair with both musical theatre and opera. He is an alumnus of Theatre20’s Emerging Artist Program under the mentorship of Adam Brazier. He has performed in Opera in Concert’s Les Huguenots, Armida, Thais, and Gloriana. He has also performed in Toronto Operetta Theatre’s Merry Widow, La Vie Parisienne, and the Land of Smiles. He also appeared as Tibaldo in SOLT’s I Capuletti e i Montecchi.
He has also been involved in the workshopping of several new Canadian musicals including Marathon of Hope, and Theatre20’s Bloodless which was nominated for nine Dora Awards.
