About Benjamin
Benjamin Gould is the Artistic Director of A Commedia of Errors. Since graduating from ALRA in 2010, he has worked in various media, particularly in Commedia dell’Arte. He has performed in England, Ireland and Italy collaborating with Fraternal Compagnia in Bologna and Sometime Soon Arts in England, as well as creating and performing his own outdoor performances. He has trained and been directed by some of the best in the industry, working with Carlo Boso (AIDAS, Paris), Massimo Macchiavelli (Fraternal Compagnia, Bologna), Marco Rota (Teatro Viaggio, Bergamo), Didi Hopkins (with the National Theatre, London) and Graham Shackell (Sometime Soon Arts, Brighton). He has honed his skills in all aspects of the art during this time, including: writing, directing, performing and mask making. Many of the masks used by A Commedia of Errors have been created by Benjamin from his own designs. He runs workshops in Commedia alongside theatrical productions and regularly teaches and performs in both the UK and Italy.
Unique traits: Benjamin is an expert in Commedia dell'Arte and a very strong physical performer. He is an expereinced director, facilitator and performer and has written and produced two plays with his own company, Commedia of Errors Theatre Company. He also makes traditional leather Commedia dell'Arte masks.
