HI everyone. Nice to be here and get to know more people in the industry. I am an actor. I have done some of my own shorts and recently I was in a short that made it into the 48 hour film festival. I also have some writing experience and would like to get my hand into some directing. Can't wait to work with a bunch of you to reach our goals in film.

ADVICE needed for script contribution
If asked by a director, or producer to pen a comedic scene within the context of an existing script, can I get some input on how to fairly charge for the scene that I would write for the script. Would I charge by the word???

I've seen page rates used before, but I think charging by the word is more for fiction/journalism... either ask what their budget is or tell them what you want to be paid for the work.

I agree with Dan G. I would not be trying to extract money from someone just to write a single scene. You're more likely to get future work from this director/producer if you can bang out this one good scene as a favor.
Wise words. Write fast, deliver on schedule and ingratiate yourself into the team. If you have what it takes - opportunity may come knocking.
