I became a screenwriter when my third novel was optioned, but I over the years -- like so many of us -- I've come to think of myself by the atavistic term true of our ancestors -- storyteller. Once upon a time, a play I wrote ran at the Edinburgh Fringe -- now I run a film and animation website, and have a lot of amazing BFA students. I'm a writer by nature, a narrative theorist by training (first grad school), a psychologist by necessity (second grad school) and a teacher (throughout) by love.*
*The above self-description was paraphrased from that of one of my heroes, Janus Korczak.
