Mickey Fortune, a former gangster rapper, and current father of at least two lives in Mount Airy, a small-town in Maryland full of NSA employees. His neighbors don’t say much, but they are all good listeners. He has been a director of marketing for a technology trade association for the past twelve years while living a double-life as a songwriter, music producer, and touring, international DJ.
In his free time, he has written songs for Sky Blu of LMFAO and Japanese pop-star Mirei. He has even had, two #1 Club Hits in Australia and several top 25 releases on Beatport, the iTunes of the electronic dance music industry. Since 2008, he has performed across the United States, Europe, and Australia. Some of his most popular songs include: “Everyone’s a DJ,” “I’m Too Fat to be a Hipster,” and “Who Let the Douchebags In?”
At 37 years old, he is studying film at Towson University and hopes to pursue a new career in TV writing after graduation. He has always loved film and television. As a child, his favorite babysitter was his negligent father’s immense VHS collection and big screen television. He is a fan of everything, but finds that his favorite genre’s to write are comedy and action; sometimes at the same time.
Mickey has recently written a comedy pilot called “Life of the After Party,” which follows a recent graduate who takes a job as the tour manager of an egomaniac, self-destructive, DJ.
