About Mona

Documentary film director and producer. Started out as associate producer on the Oscar-nominated CHILDREN UNDERGROUND (2001). My latest film OUR SCHOOL (2011) premiered at Tribeca, won Best US Feature at AFI Siverdocs, and went on to over 60 tests world-wide. I am also the artistic director of fARAD, a new festival of documentary, hybrid and experimental film; a programmer for the One World Romania human rights documentary festival; and a board member for Making Waves: New Romanian Cinema at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. I am also a human rights activist with longstanding experience, as well as writer and editor whose work has been published in The Guardian, Harper's Bazaar, etc.
